Durrës Becomes the Global Capital of Chess – Albania Hosts the 2025 World Youth Chess Championship

From October 3 to 16, 2025, the coastal city of Durrës will transform into the world stage of chess, hosting the World Youth Chess Championship (U14, U16, U18). This historic event, organized in cooperation with FIDE and the Albanian Chess Federation, brings to Albania for the very first time a competition of such magnitude.

Durrës is set to welcome more than 700 young chess players from over 80 countries, accompanied by coaches, arbiters, delegation leaders, and prominent figures from the international chess community.
